Now That's What I Call Music! 8 was released on November 20, 2001. The album is the eighth edition of the (U.S.) Now series. It peaked at number 2, 3, 4 and 10 on the Billboard 200 and has been certified 2x Platinum by the RIAA. The compilation includes four songs which reached the Billboard Hot 100: "Bootylicious", "I'm Real", "Studder (Double Take Remix)", and "U Got It Bad".

The cover is inspired by the NOW 49 UK cover released in the same year.

This Now CD is dedicated to Aaliyah, who died in a plane crash.
